Sidecar racing is the only motorsport in the world which requires two people to react together in order to control the machine around road racing courses. Sidecar racing began in the 1920's and has evolved into a high speed, visuallly spectacular sport that attracts alot of attention both in the pits and on the track.
To qualify as racing sidecars, the machines must conform to strict regulation governed by the Sidecars racers Association (S.R.A.), a non-profit organization whose purpose is to organize and promote sidecar roadracing in North America.
Each racing sidecar has something unique that gives it an identifying character. The earlier style machines have the engines placed in front of the driver and chassis has a short wheel base. The newly designed long wheel based chassis of today, have rear engines and the longer chassis allow for greatr stability, hence higher cornering speeds as well.
